Chely Seels, Dance Director for Vikas & Kings

  

Chely Seels is a dance educator and dance artist from Bells, TX. She holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Dance Education and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from Texas Woman’s University. While at Texas Woman’s University, Seels was a Graduate Teaching Assistant and the Recruitment Coordinator for the Division of Dance. She recently was an adjunct at Texas Woman’s University, and co-director for the semi-pro dance team, Chosen in Rockwall, Texas. Mrs. Seels is well known as a choreographer and instructor for Danceline Productions and a traveling freelance choreographer for studios and dance teams throughout the state of Texas. She has set work on teams from Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, TX. She is currently the director of the Nimitz High School Dance Department, the Vikas Dance Team, and Kings Dance Crew. Mrs. Seels's research is focused on hip-hop and street dance forms in the context of the commercial industry and concert stage. Her work, Paradox, was showcased and selected for the 2021 American College Dance Association Inaugural Screendance Festival Gala. In addition, Seels has performed at the Dallas Mavericks Halftime Show, Disney World, and as a backup dancer for Christian artist Aj Wray on his national tour through Colorado, California, and New York. Mrs. Seels recently received the National Dance Society’s 2022 Young Dance Professional Award for her continuous work in dance education.
